1st Annual Young Buck Classic

Our first-ever Young Buck Classic was something special. We hosted it here in Pegram during Tennessee’s Juvenile Weekend, and it brought together way more families and young hunters than we ever imagined. The whole reason we created this event was to get kids back outdoors — off the screens, into the woods, and experiencing the same kind of memories we grew up with. Seeing that actually happen all weekend long made every bit of planning worth it.

Kids ages 6–16 checked in their deer, hung out with friends, ate good food, played games, and got to be part of a true hunting tradition. The competition side of things was a blast too. We had some incredible harvests this year:

• Olivia Meyers (12) took home 1st with a 130-lb buck scoring 106 7/8.

• Rose Sanders (7) grabbed 2nd with her 100-lb buck.

• Kellen Bell (6) placed 3rd and also won Tallest Spike with his 7-inch antlers.

• Bryson Finch (12) won Heaviest Doe at 100.5 lbs.

• Camden Hodges (6) was our Youngest Hunter to Harvest with an 82-lb doe.

Watching the excitement on these kids’ faces — and seeing their families cheer them on — reminded us exactly why we started Turnbull Outdoors in the first place. This event wasn’t just about winning trophies. It was about community, tradition, and passing down the love of the outdoors to the next generation.

We can’t thank our sponsors enough — Field & Stream, Bruce Trucking, Native Property Solutions, and TWRA — for helping us make this event free for every kid who wanted to be part of it.

This is just the beginning. Turnbull Outdoors plans to host four youth events every year tied to Tennessee’s hunting and fishing seasons, from frogs and turkeys to deer and fish. If the Young Buck Classic is any sign of what’s ahead, we’re building something truly meaningful here — and we’re just getting started.
